Conexkt introduces new digital platform: Citympact!

Social media is a powerful tool. Youths use social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and more to generate visibility around social, ethical, environmental and political views or issues. Generation Z wants to create positive change, especially around politics, yet they neglect the democratic tools that help enable said impact. Over the last 30 years, we saw the participation rate in Swiss municipal elections fall from 90% to under 50%.

At Conexkt, we noticed the paradox and last year we received an award from the Prototype Fund to help innovators develop open-source projects to strengthen political participation in Switzerland. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to create Citympact, a digital platform aimed at increasing the low political participation at the municipal level of Generation Z in Switzerland.

After six months, Conexkt participated in Prototype Fund’s Demo Day on February 24th, 2022. We had the opportunity to pitch Citympact to members of the Swiss community, showing how our platform bridges the gap between publicly accessible information and representative decision-making in the Swiss political sphere.

Through Citympact, every Gen Z citizen can voice their opinions on projects and issues affecting their municipality. The platform itself is simple- users can learn about the various projects impacting their cities, directly vote and express their opinions, and start new or sign existing petitions.

Users can vote (like/dislike) a project with a simple click of a button, learn more, and share their thoughts in the comments.

Let’s revive political participation together.
